The Hui 'O He’e Hau 'O Wakinekona is actively engaged in doing our part in keeping the mountain resources that we use in the winter, clean, by keeping it free of trash and litter. The Hui sponsors a day in which we take to the summit of a mountain ski resort of our choosing, and hike down to base while picking up litter left by hikers in the summer, and snow sporters during the winter season. Keeping the integrity of lakes and mountain streams free of pollution is a vital step in the ecological water cycle.
The Water Cycle
Snowmelt runoff, from the snow pack that we snow sport on during the winter, runs into our local streams, then to the ocean and then back into the atmosphere by evaporation, condensation and percipitation. This process is called the Hydrologic or water cycle.

2012 Mountain Clean Up - July 7, 2012
This year, because of scheduling conflicts, we will not be cleaning at Crystal Mountain. However, we will join forces with the Snowrider foundation in their 11th Annual All-Mountain Clean Up Project at the Summit at Snoqualmie on July 7th. We will meet at the Alpental parking lot at 10:00 am to get our instructions. Trash bags, gloves and lunch will be provided. Dress appropriately for Pacific Northwest weather. Please RSVP below to attend.
What to bring:
-Hiking boots or old tennis shoes
-Reusable water bottle
We will clean up at the four areas of the Summit at Snoqualmie ski resort. Summit East, Summit West, Summit Central or Alpental.
2012 Mountain Clean Up Registration
Clean Up the World is a global campaign that inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve their environment. Held in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program, it mobilizes an estimated 35 million people across 130 countries each year.
The Hui 'O He'e Hau 'O Wakinekona is aligned with the mission and vision of the "Clean Up the World" initiative, and is a proud member of this campaign.

Big Mahalo to those who participated in this years mountain clean up day. Together with the Surfrider Foundation, we combined for 60+ people, cleaning the four bases of Snoqualmie Summit.
